The Best Ways To Care for Spot Prone Skin

Good skin care is important, especially to reduce the signs of ageing and clear spots or acne. During winter, I know I notice that my skin can get so dry and breakout. Here are some tips that I’m sharing, to make sure your skin looks its best. They should also help to reduce spots and how to treat them if you get them.

Wash & Moisturise
We all wash our face and so we should. It gets rid of the dry skin cells and helps skin to repair. It can draw out some of the skin’s moisture though so after washing, it is important to moisturise. This should be done daily. Try to avoid a greasy moisturiser, though. If you have spots and acne, there will already be a lot of oil in your skin, so you don’t want to add any more unnecessarily.

Moisturising can help to smooth your skin too as it will hydrate it. Well hydrated skin is less likely to result in fine lines, wrinkles or scars. Treat Spots
I think that the best way to treat spots is to deal with them as they come. Using something like tea tree essential oil as a spot treatment can work wonders. I have also found using a dab of toothpaste on a spot overnight can help to clear spots. Don’t laugh, it works! It dries them out and makes them clear faster. Make sure you wash and use a moisturiser afterwards, though.

Sometimes when we get a breakout, we are tempted to scrub at our face. This won’t make the spots disappear. It can damage your skin and make it inflamed or sore. It will also strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture. It can be tempting, but don’t scrub your face hard.


You Are What You Eat
What we put into our bodies is so important. It plays a big role in our skincare too. If we eat a lot of fatty and greasy foods, we shouldn’t be surprised if we break out with spots. Following a balanced diet that includes lots of fresh fruit and veggies will give our skin all the right nutrients it needs to repair and glow.

This also works for what we drink too. Water is important for clear, hydrated and plump skin. We should try to drink at least 2 litres per day of the good stuff. It will clear toxins and help you look better as it can eliminate dark circles around your eyes. Sugary drinks can lead to breakouts so if you wanted something else, try a fresh juice or a green smoothie.
