Family Things I Would Love to Do in Downtown San Diego

I love traveling when we get the chance to, although unfortunately that's not as often as I would like. There are lots of incredible places I'd like to visit. But some of California's cities and towns are at the top of my list. I really want to go to San Diego, where there's a lot to explore. I'd especially like to see the famous zoo there! The area of downtown San Diego is one of the coolest parts to visit, so I would enjoy staying there. It's not just for people who want to party either, and there's a lot we would be able to do with the kids. These are some of the things we could explore as a family.

Hotels
Finding a family-friendly hotel is important for us when we're traveling. We need somewhere we can all rest after a long day running around the city. We like to pack in lots of activities, so we can all be tired by the time the day is over. Somewhere like the new Courtyard by Marriott,  by hotel developer, Sajan Hansji, is perfect for us. It's in an excellent location, and it has dining options on-site. That's always useful so that we can get breakfast and even dinner in the hotel. Getting a suite with two queen beds means there's room for all of us.

Food and Drink
We love trying new food when we're away, and San Diego's Downtown neighborhood has lots of options. There's American and Californian cuisine, as well as food from around the world. The area has Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Thai to discover. There's lots of fine dining if you want to try it, but something more casual is better for us because of the kids. There are also plenty of great food trucks to get a quick bite to eat. These are ideal for when we're out and about, and we need food quickly!

Zoo and Park
From downtown, we can hop onto the trolley and visit the San Diego Zoo, as well as Balboa Park. These are great places to visit with the kids, and I'm sure they would love it. The zoo has a huge range of animals from around the world, including pandas, elephants, and even polar bears. They do great conservation work, and you can take a special tour of the zoo if you book ahead. The park has a lot to do too, with museums, performing arts and gardens to see.

Museums and Arts
Within Balboa Park, there's plenty to do with children. There's a puppet theater that I'm sure both of my kids would love, and there are places to see ballet and other shows. Museums can be great things to see as a family too, but only if there's lots for kids to do. I think the Air and Space Museum might be the place we would go to because my little ones would love the planes and spacecrafts.

I can't wait until the next time we all get to take a trip together. Maybe we'll plan one to San Diego soon.
