A Guide to Spending Quality Time With Your Family This Summer

Summer is the perfect time to spend quality time with your family. Not only do the kids have time off school, the weather is the perfect temperature to get outside and enjoy life more. This guide will give you some valuable tips on spending quality time:

Avoid Electricals as Much as Possible

Having mobile phones, tablets and TVs to distract you all will not lead to real quality time. You need to limit these electricals as much as you can over the summer if you’re aiming to spend quality time together. You don’t need to ban them completely, but you should keep them away during times you are trying to have fun and talk.

Make Some Big Plans

Make big plans for your summer together. Plan some vacations and weekends away. Book them and put them in your calendar to look forward to. You could even plan a ‘staycation’, where you stay somewhere close by to avoid spending too much money, but so you still feel like you’ve had time away.

Have Days Out

Have days out together. Be spontaneous with them if you can, but make sure you book a couple too. There are plenty of great days out for kids, you just need to find what’s closeby.

Eat Meals Together

Eating meals together is a really simple way to spend some quality time together. Eat your meals around the table, and avoid looking at your phones or watching TV as you do so. You can have a real talk about what you’ve done that day and things you’ve learned.

Go on a Road Trip

Road trips can be just as fun as days out. You do still need to plan a little, as you’ll need to pack some essential items. Your kids will need snacks, food, and even a playlist to keep them in good spirits. Make sure you know where you’re heading, but don’t plan too much. You don’t need to plan your stops or anything like that, as planning too much can take the fun out of it.

Play Games With Them

Simply playing games with your family can be a wonderful way to spend quality time together. Host a games night where you can also watch films and eat lots of snacks. Think of games you can play outside too; draw a hopscotch with chalk, or something similar. Create an obstacle course. You don’t need to spend a fortune to have summer fun with your family!

Quality time is so much more than just spending time with your family. Making the effort to make that time special means so much more. You all need to be in it together though, so make sure it isn’t just you that realises how important this time is. Everyone should be on the same page. When you all vow to spend quality time together, you’ll have an amazing summer and create unforgettable memories!
